St Declan’s Bell Silver

Description

St Declan’s Bell is a beautiful pendant, made up of the hollow bell with the handle on top and the solid clapper inside.  This is a replica of the type of bell in use in Ireland, at the time of St Declan.

Legend tell us that the precious The Bell was left behind in Wales when Declan was sailing to Ireland.  Declan’s prayers for the safe return of the bell were answered when boulder carrying the bell appeared and floated ahead of the boat.   Declan promised to set up his monastery where ever the boulder and bell came ashore.  And that is how Declan came to establish his church here in Ardmore, and the boulder still sits on the foreshore and is accessible at low tide.
